William Claborne "Will" West was born on February 13, 1867 in Montgomeery County, Tennessee, and he was the son of Eliza Washington (Dickson) (West) West (1849–1927) and her 1st husband Drury Hector West (1840–1872) {NOT William Drew West}. {Will's Death Certificate has his surname spelled Claborne, while his obituary has it as Claiborne. His mother Eliza was married 2nd in Stewart County, Tennessee on July 12w, 1874 as the 2nd wife of Thomas Wilson Lewis (1840–1915).}
He was married to Mary Lou Broaddus (1869–1944) on January 15, 1895 at her home near Erin, Houston County, Tennessee, the daughter of William John Broaddus (1826–1917) and Margaret Elizabeth "Bettie" (Carter) Broaddus (1831–1925).
A member of the Methodist church, Will was a widower and retired farmer and was 86 years old when he passed away at home in Montgomery County on Route 3 (out towards Cumberland City near Lock C) on March 7, 1953 after being ill for a long period of time.
Preceded in death by his wife and by his parents, he was survived by his son Drew West in the Lock C community, daughter Mrs Margaret Bayer of Cumberland City, half-brother Joe Lewis and half-sisters Mrs Will Lewis and Miss Rena B Lewis, all at Cumberland City on Route 3.
Funeral Services were held on March 8th at Blooming Grove Baptist Church, and burial was in that church's cemetery in Woodlawn.
