Madras resident Clay Dell Hollingsworth, 62, died July 22, 2011, at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. No memorial service is planned at this time.
Mr. Hollingsworth was born in January 1949 in Salem. He was the ninth child in birth order out of 10 children.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1968-70, and was stationed in Vietnam, where he received both a purple heart and a bronze star for bravery.
Mr. Hollingsworth learned his trade as a meat cutter in The Dalles, while working for Middleton Meats. He moved to Madras and worked as a meat cutter for Oregon Beef and Madras Thriftway before he retired in 2010.
He never met a stranger. Friends say he was friendly and generous to a fault, and he will be loved and missed by those who knew him.
Survivors include a daughter, three brothers, three sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, both his parents, and three of his siblings.
