Story Window and Dies in
Less Than an Hours Time

Dr. A.C. McFall fell from a second story building shortly after 10 o'clock Tuesday morning from which he died about 40 minutes later.

He had gone to his office up stairs over Mrs. Sellars' book store on the west side of the public square and after lighting his pipe walked across the head of the stairs to the photograph parlors of Mr. J. R. Crossley, over Gillums confectionery. Dr. McFall took a seat in a window at the north end and only sat there about a moment, Mr. Crossley says, when he fell out of the window, striking the concrete sidewalk below.

He fell on the right side of the face and head fracturing his skull and making a ghastly wound on his head from which streams of blood flowed all around his prostrate form as he lay helpless on the walk and life repaidly slipping a way. He was moved to his home on Water street near the corner of Ninth, where he died about 11 o'clock. He never gained consciousness.

The window from where he fell had a two by three foot platform upheld by two small wires upon which Mr. Crossley used to put photographis plates, in the rays of the sun. It is thought that Dr. McFall had probably placed one hand on it, to look out at the window and the wires being weak, cause them to break, throwing him out. Another theory is that he fainted and fell out.

He had been the victim of ill health for several weeks and when he entered Mr. Crossley's office the latter asked him how he was feeling and the Dr. replied that he was feeling much better since we had had such beautiful weather and at that juncture took a seat in the window. Mr. Crossley was busy at his work and paid no further attention to him until he saw him tilt out of the window.

Dr. McFall had not been in his office for several weeks and came down Tuesday to attend to any patient who might call. His pipe and eye glasses were found by his side. He was bareheaded and had left his hat in his office, on a center table.

The deceased was aged 69 years, one month and 91 days, having been born in Ky., February 7, 1842.

He was brought up on his father's farm until the breaking out of the war in 1861 when he enlisted in Company B 4th Tennessee Confederate Infantry and participated in the battles of Shiloh, Perryville, Missionary Ridge and others.

He graduated in dentistry in 1874 from the Missouir Dental College and located in Mayfield where he had since continued the practice of his profession.

In 1871, he was married to Mrs. Anna Mayes by which which marriage they have one daughter, Mrs. Daisy Winfrey of the ??

The funeral services will take place from his ? home at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. ???Mayfied , of the Methedist church. The burial will be made ??/? of the United Confederate of Veterans.
