Pauline (Polly) Craft Welfare, 93, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Welfare was born to the late Samuel Irving and Kathleen Graham Craft on November 3, 1920, in Winston- Salem where she attended Home Moravian Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Douglas Sharp Welfare, brothers Samuel (Buck) Irving Craft, Jr., Richard Graham Craft and a sister, Sandra Craft Miller.

Mrs. Welfare attended R.J.Reynolds High School and Greensboro College before working at City National Bank in Winston-Salem. After her marriage in 1946, she and her husband lived primarily in Greensboro before retiring in Morehead City, NC. For the past 19 years, she has lived at Brookridge Retirement Community and attended First Baptist Church in Winston- Salem.

Mrs. Welfare was involved in many activities with her daughters, such as Girl Scouts and teaching Sunday School. She enjoyed playing bridge and many forms of arts and crafts. She was an outgoing and gregarious person, and was loved by many.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda Welfare Flagler and her husband, Fred, of Atlanta, GA and Nancy Welfare Perkins and her husband, William, of Richmond, VA; five grandchildren, Brian Flagler, and wife Amy, Emily Flagler, Kathleen Perkins, Graham Perkins and Colson Perkins; four great-grandchildren, Patrick, Sam and Grady Flagler and Kristall Strumer; and other special family and friends.

A graveside service for family will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem.
