Andrew "Andy" R. Baud, 88, of Lakeville, formerly of Owatonna, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at his home.

Andrew was born February 26, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois the son of Henry and Margaret (Poort) Baud. He was raised in Midlothian, Illinois and attended school at Thornton High School graduating in 1941. He entered the United States Navy on July 24, 1943 and served on the USS Takanis Bay during WWII. He received his honorable discharge March 26, 1946. After his service in 1946, Andy joined the Chicago White Sox organization and played for six years. He met Lola, who lived in Waterloo, Iowa and the couple was united in marriage on February 3, 1951. They made their home in Waterloo and then moved to Waseca where he continued playing baseball and also worked for MNDOT as a Sr. Highway Tech. They lived in Waseca until moving to Owatonna when MNDOT moved to Owatonna. Andy worked on the first stretch of Interstate 35 construction project. He continued his career with MN DOT for over 33 years. They recently moved to Lakeville in September 2013.

Andy enjoyed playing baseball, golfing, fishing, bowling and gardening.

He is survived by his wife Lola Baud of Lakeville; two sons, Randy (and Brenda) Baud of Burnsville; Jeff (and Darla) Baud of Broomfield, CO; a daughter, Cindy (and Chuck) Beske of Lakeville; three grandchildren, Abby (and Jeff) Weber of Lakeville; Kirsten (and David) Cegla of Rosemount; Andrew Beske of Minneapolis; two great grandchildren, Bode Weber; Lucas Cegla and a brother, Henry "Hank" (and Pam) Baud of Aiken, SC.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kaitlin Marie Beske, his parents and a brother Richard Baud.

Visitation will be at The Associated Church on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at The Associated Church with The Reverend James D. Oberg officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials are preferred to Associated Church, the Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge or donor''s choice.
