Pioneer State Woman Dies
Mrs. Jane Chapman Armstrong, 506 South Choctaw, died in Park View hospital Saturday evening following an illness of several months.
Mrs. Armstrong was born Feb. 28, 1868, at Galena, Kan., and came to Indian territory in 1879, living in and near Bartlesville until she came to El Reno in 1954 with her husband, the late Henry Armstrong, to make their home with their daughter, Mrs. Harry Garrett, of the home.
She was a member of the Baptist church in Bartlesville.
Besides the daughter, two sons, Harold P. Armstrong, of Maumee, Ohio, and Herbert D. Armstrong of 506 South Choctaw, are surviving.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, Mrs. Tony Grabowski of Syracuse, N. Y., Dona Kay Armstrong of 506 South Choctaw; three grandsons, Harry Garrett of Yukon, Harland Armstrong of Maumee, Ohio; and Paul W. Armstrong; stationed in Korea with the U. S. army, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 4 p. m. Tuesday in the Wilson funeral home chapel with Dr. J. W. Hodges, assistant pastor of the First Baptist church in Oklahoma City, officiating. Burial was in the El Reno cemetery under direction of Wilson funeral home.
