Leo Clare Hartman, 94, died Thursday (Dec. 16, 1999) at St. Ann's Hospital after a short illness.
He was born March 31, 1905, in Huron County to the late Joseph and Rachel Hartman. He lived in Mansfield most of his life.
He attended North Fairfield School before working at Shelby Tube and later Westinghouse, retiring in the 1970s. He was also an independent insurance agent with Motorist Mutual Insurance for over 30 years.
He was married to Anna Marie McManus for 62 years. She preceded him in death on April 2, 1999.
For over 50 years, he was a member of Roseland Grange and Richland Count Pomona Grange. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the North Fairfield Lodge of F and AM of Ohio, Mansfield Chapter #28, Mansfield Council #94, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Canto and Mansfield Commandry #28 Knights Templar. He had been a member of the Masons for 70 years.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Anne and John Henney, Mansfield, Mary Jane and Robert Shuler, Waynesville, and Ruth and Joe Henney, Galena, with whom he lived for the past nine months; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by seven siblings; Samuel, Scott, George, Walter, Tressie, Edna Brown and Clara Cummins Jones.
Calling hours were at Wappner Funeral Home, Mansfield, with the Revs. David Gilbert and Allen Rose officiating. Burial was in Mansfield Cemetery.
