Curtis Almeron Beach, son of Jerome and Elisabeth Jane Beach (afterward Mrs. E.J. Waterman) was born in Trumboll County, Ohio, November 12, 1849. In his young childhood the family moved to Iowa, from whence his father entered the Civil War dying of fever near Vicksburg, Miss.
He attended Grinnell College and taught school several years in Iowa and Nebraska. Coming to Nebraska early in 1870, he took up a homestead north-east of Milford and lived in that community until his death.
