CONROE - Mr. Wayne H. Slater Sr., 102, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, in a Conroe medical center. Mr. Slater was born March 30, 1897 in Devine, Texas. He was a supervisor for Texaco in Port Arthur, Texas., for thirty- two years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Kerrville Masonic Lodge and the Kerrville Order of the Eastern Star. He was a Kerrville resident for 26 years, before moving in 1983. He married Oma McCombs in 1922 in San Antonio, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1985. Survivors include two daugh- ters, Shirley Easterling and husband, George of Mauriceville, Texas and Ruth Whitmire and husband, Hoyt of Rockdale, Texas; one son, Howard Slater and wife, Ouida of Conroe, Texas; one brother, Travis Slater of Anacortes, Wash.; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Graveside services will be Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville. Viewing will be at Grimes Funeral Chapels after 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24,1999. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville
