Susie “Rose” (Beckwith) Moore, age 101, of Albany, GA passed away on May 7, 2019. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 10, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Lakeside Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM until funeral time. Rev. K Chancellor will officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Rose was born on November 1, 1917 in Ellaville, Ga where she grew up. She married the love of her life, Floyd Franklin Moore on February 17, 1935 at the age of 17. After living in Leesburg for a while, they settled in Albany where Floyd was a police officer. Together, they raised six children before he preceded her in death in 1975.
Rose was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. In total, Rose had 6 children, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was called “Mother” by most all of them. She loved the Lord and her church, Lakeside Baptist, where she was a temporary Sunday school teacher for 44 years. She loved beautiful things and could sew beautifully, crochet, paint ceramics, arrange centerpieces, grow flowers and more- bringing beauty to everything she touched. She loved to travel earning her the nickname “Ramblin’ Rose.”
Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband Floyd Franklin Moore and preceded in death by her brothers Vivian (Trixie) Beckwith, Vincent Beckwith, Ralph (Geneva) Beckwith, and Art Beckwith, and preceded in death by her sisters June (Roy) Hash, Marcy (Russ) Russell and Phyllis Beckwith. She was the devoted mother of Nancy (Ray) Viramantez, the late Gary (Vickie) Moore, the late Charles (Barbara) Moore, Judy (Haywood) Paul, Sandra Benford and Victor Moore.
Memorials may be made to Lakeside Baptist Church, 2806 N. Jefferson, Albany, GA 31701.
