John and Lydia (Wheir) Ohl moved to Indiana from Ashland County, Ohio. The came by wagon to Indiana in the pioneer days and secured land one-half mile east of Mulberry. The country was very wild and they had their full share of hardships, but they cleared the land, made a good home and spent many prosperous years there, John Ohl dying on the place. Although he was a distiller early in his career, his latter years were given up to farming.
He and his wife were the parents of: David, John, George, Elizabeth, Lydia, Maria, Simon, and Mary.
