Armand Robert

Funeral services for Mr. Armand Louis Robert, 75, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in the church cemetery.

The Rev. Treme will conduct the services.

Mr. Robert, a resident of Kenner and a native of Crowley, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 1999, in Waldon Health Care Center in Kenner. He was a graduate of S.L.I. now U.S.L. with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and obtained a master's degree from Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss. Mr. Robert taught in the public school system in St. Landry, Vermilion and Lafayette Parishes.

He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. During his tenure in the Army, he served in Burma, India and China.

Survivors include: two brothers, William "Bill" Robert of Opelousas and John Robert of Metairie; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sill Robert Sr. and Wilda Meginley Robert; five sisters, Jeanne Robert, Wilda R. Williams, Iris R. Hernandez, Lucille R. Chargois and Clara R. Stagg; and three brothers, Frank S. Robert Jr., Samuel H. Robert and Benjamin M. Robert Sr.

The family request donations be made to Hospice of St. Landry or Hospice of Acadiana.

Visiting hours will be observed from 4 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Thursday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.

Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.
