Funeral services for David Gray, 83, a retired farmer of the Culbertson community, were conducted here Wednesday afternoon in the Methodist church with Rev. Peter Trucano officiating.

Everett Kern, soloist, sang "In the Garden" and "Going Down the Valley" with accompaniment by Mrs. Carl Herman, organist.

Serving as pallbearers were Virgil Wilson, Walter Pollmann, Leonard Walker, Dwaine Wilson, Reed Loomis, and Robert Hidy. Burial was made in the Culbertson Cemetery under the direction of the Breland Funeral Chapel.

David A. Gray, son of James and Delia Gray, was born in Illinois on May 9, 1878 and died at St. Catherine's Hospital in McCook, Nebraska on January 22, 1962 following a brief illness.

He came to Nebraska with his parents as a child and spent most of his life in the Culbertson community.

He and his wife, the former Zula May Ayers, to whom he was married in 1903, were the parents of eight children. Four children died in infancy and one son, Eddie, died May 8, 1951. Mr. Gray was also preceded in death by his wife, who died August 12, 1949.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lula Wilson of Culbertson and Mrs. Velma Pollmann of Trenton; one son, Orvil, of Culbertson; one brother, Fred of Sterling, Colorado; 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
