*********

Capt Dennison was wounded in the Battle of Stone's River at Murfresboro TN on December 31, 1862.

The son of Henry Champlin and Amy Dennison. He was a prominent figure in Peoria during the 1850's. When a military organization called the National Blues was formed in 1856, Charles Dennison was named it's first Captain.

The 1860 federal census shows Charles and his wife Mary, and sons Charles and John. Also in the household is his brother Edward C Dennison, and sisters Frances and Elizabeth. Frances married Dr John Hamilton and is buried in Springdale.

It appears Mary takes the sons back to Vermont after Charles dies, as reflected on the 1870 census.

In 1874, a Franklin Farrington applies for benefits as the guardian for a minor child. Mary applies for suvivor benefits in 1901, as a remarried spouse. Her name is Mary Farrington.
