Ernest J. Huslig, 84, of Great Bend, died Jan. 21, 2002 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend.

He was born Oct. 28, 1917, in rural Claflin, the son of Henry and Johanna Miller Huslig.

He married Audry M. Moeder. She died Sept. 17, 1994.

A resident of Great Bend since 1955, coming from Claflin, he worked as a conservation officer for Wildlife and Parks and was also in law enforcement. Huslig was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, serving as past post commander, all of Great Bend, Kansas Peace Officers Association and AARP. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include two sons, James P. Huslig of Wichita and David C. Huslig of Great Bend; one brother, Wilbert Huslig of Overland Park; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Huslig, Robert Huslig and Leonard Huslig; and four sisters, Marie Bailey, Helen Debes, Sister Loyola and Sister Ann Lang.

Rosary followed by a K of C rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Revs.
Angel Dy and Gerald Hammeke officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.
