British murder victim. He was seventeen at the time of his death, lived with his father at 10 Steeds Road in Muswell Hill, North London, and had a job in a warehouse. In January 1967, Mr. Fred Burggy, a farmworker from Tattingstone, about five miles South of Ipswich in Suffolk, found two suitcases in a field near Bentley Lane. They contained a naked torso and severed limbs, which were identified as being Bernard Oliver's remains. Joe Meek may have known Oliver, and the circumstances of the latter's death are thought to have contributed to Meek's mental state during his last days, because he feared being accused of involvement in the murder. Oliver was buried on February 6th., three days after the deaths of Meek and Mrs. Violet Shenton. No charges were ever brought in connection with his murder. His grave is in St. Peter's Avenue, which is best reached from the cemetery entrance on Coppetts Road. On the right-hand (North East) side of St. Peter's Avenue, about one hundred yards along, is the grave of Tom Whittaker, M.B.E.; and, just opposite this, on the left side of the Avenue, is a grass path. Bernard Oliver was buried on the right-hand side (North West) of this path, four graves back.
