James Absalom Clark Wallingsford, son of Elizabeth (née Painter) and James Gilkey Wallingford, was born in Muscatine County, Iowa, where his family had settled in 1852.

James A. C. Wallingford and Julia F. Beebe were married in November 1879 in Dodge County, Nebraska. The couple had three sons:
• Arthur C. C. (17 Nov 1880 - 13 May 1882)
• James Henry Marion (23 Oct 1882 - 15 Sep 1975)
• Charles Steadman Beebe (26 Nov 1884 - Mar 1968)

James A. C. Wallingford died on 26 March 1885 at his home in Fremont, Dodge County. He was 31. A few weeks later, "Wallingford, Frances" was enumerated as a widow with sons Henry and Charles. She remarried in 1898.

Neither the death notice (cited below), nor a funeral notice the following day, state where James Absalom Clark Wallingsford was buried. Ridge Cemetery is a reasonable guess. His infant son Arthur (d. 1882) and other Wallingford/Wallingsford relations were buried there, and Military Avenue runs alongside the cemetery.
