Kenneth Wade Parrish, Sr., 80, St. Joseph, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at a St. Joseph hospital.

Mr. Parrish retired in 1984 after 40 years of service as a yard clerk with the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He served with the Marine during World War II.

Born March 15, 1918, in Shenandoah, Iowa, he lived in St. Joseph most of his life. He was a member of the Carnegie Baptist Church, St. Joseph, where he served as a deacon for 48 years. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Atchison, Kansas.

Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Minnie; and a sister, Thelma Ruse.

Surviving: his wife, Dorothy Parrish, of the home; a son, Kenneth W. Jr., Mayflower, Ark.; two daughters, Marty Mears and Marcy Schurman, both of St. Joseph; four sisters, Dorothy Delaney, Agency, Mo., Norman Bonham, Savannah, Mo., Erma Brinton, Gower, Mo., and Rose Tritten, Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
