Newton Jasper Fenn -
Born 1837 in Hall County to Thomas A & Lydia Fenn,
Died July 1910 in Fulton County.
Newton Jasper Fenn enlisted in Co. C of Phillips Legion on 1 March 1862. His records show that he was wounded on in May, 1864 and was admitted to Jackson Hospital in Richmond, VA on 29 July 1864. He returned to duty on 12 Aug 1864. The July & August muster rolls of soldiers who were present show he was present. Listed as severely wounded in foot 10/19/1864 at Cedar Creek on casualty list in 11/9/1864 Athens Southern Banner, Shown "wounded at hospital" on a late 1864 roll.
Deserted near Petersburg 4/2/1865, Took Oath of Allegiance and sent to Richmond, Ohio.

Newton was one of four Fenn brothers who fought for the South in the Civil War. He was the only survivor.

Newton Jasper Fenn - Youngest brother, survived war and was present when George Washington Fenn # 5141933 died of dysentery approximately 200 yards from where he is buried.
