He had been a resident of Hagerstown for 36 years and had been employed by the B&O for over 47 years. He was an elder of the Presbyterian Church of this city and a member of the Hagerstown Lodge, AF and AM.
He is survived by his wife, Maude E. (Stewart) Bowman; daughters, Mrs. Thurman E. Starkey, Laureldale, Pa.; Mrs. Catherine Zahn, Hagerstown; the Misses Hilda and Frances Bowman, both at home; sons, Frank S. Bowman, Jr., and Paul Stewart Bowman, both of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Lauke Hottel, Strasburg, Va.; and brother, Hugh H. Bowman, Front Royal, Va.
Funeral services were held at A.K. Coffman Funeral Home; interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
