Mrs. Laura Bain Oakley, 58, of 502 Old Mill Rd, died at 5:25 p.m. Saturday in High Point Memorial Hospital. She had been in declining health one year and a patient in the hospital four days. Mrs. Oakley was born in Randleman Oct. 18, 1910, a daughter of Amos M. and Helen Brookshire Bain. On Dec. 26, 1932, she was married to George P. Oalkey, Sr. He died Sept. 1, 1958. A resident of High Point for 50 years, she was employed with Influential Inc. She was a member of Conrad Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are one son, George P. Oakley, Jr. of the home; her mother, Mrs. Helen B. Bain of Oakwood Knoll Nursing Home; three sisters, Mrs. W. G. (Mary) Long, Beaucrest Road; Mrs. Johnny (Majorie) Williams, Pittsburg, Calif., and Mrs. Minnie Vuncannon, Albert Street; One brother, Robert H. Bain, of Richmond, Va. Funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Sechrest Chapel by the Rev. B. R. Hiatt and the Rev. Curtis Oakley. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will remain at Sechrest Funeral Home and the family will be at the funeral home Sunday night from 7 to 9.
