The funeral for Belva F. Lewison, 97, of Adams, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Lewison died Friday, April 12, 1996 at Austin Medical Center.

She was born Belva Speer on Nov. 29, 1898, in Bennington Township near LeRoy. Her parents were John Dorsey Speer and Hannah Eliza Wiseman. She attended rural LeRoy schools. On April 2, 1927, she married John Lewison. He died in 1986.

Mrs. Lewison, a homemaker, was a member of Little Cedar Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Beverly (Mrs. John) Aanonson of Rose Creek; a son, Curtis of Adams; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Muriel Rosenthal of Sumner, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

John Oden Lewison was born February 27, 1899, on a farm two and one half miles northeast of Adams to John and Ragnild Lewison.

John was confirmed May 25, 1913, by Rev. O. C. Myhre in Norwegian.

On April 2, 1927, he was married to Belva Florence Speer who was born November 29, 1899, in Bennington Township, LeRoy to John and Eliza Speer.

To this union were born two children: Beverly Joyce (Mrs. John Aanonson) of Rose Creek, and Curtis John Lewison of Adams. John and Belva have eight grandchildren and five great grand children.

John worked at the Dean farm and hauled milk before being employed by Standard Oil Company for 34 years.

In their younger days they enjoyed dancing. Belva is active in ALCW and Circles. John enjoyed his horses as a hobby.

Their favorite Bible verse is Psalm 23 and their favorite hymn is "The Old Rugged Cross."
