Carol Frances Smith, 85, of McCool Junction, NE, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Fairview Manor in Fairmont, NE. She was born December 14, 1928 in McCool Junction to Tom and Clara (Stone) White. Carol was united in marriage to George Smith on October 28, 1952.
Carol was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in McCool Junction, belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, and Iron Horse Station Corp G518. She was a longtime beautician in McCool Junction and spent many years following activities of her grandchildren.
Survivors include: sons, John A. (Linda) Smith and Greg Smith, Tim (Kim) Smith, and Retired Brigadier General Charles (Deidre) Smith; grandchildren: Gwynne (Joe) Mazour, George (Katie) Smith, Shane Smith and Jeff Hunt, Jason Smith, Michelle Miller, Adam (Rachel) Smith, Kelly Smith and fiancé Nick Hartman, and Aaron Smith, Captain Andrew Smith, and Elizabeth and Katherine Smith; as well as, 13 great-grandchildren; 3 Great Great Grandchildren. sister Lorraine (Dale) Green and brothers Tom White and Joseph White.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Smith, and sister Margaret George.
