Jessie Still was born February 13, 1927, in Hulbert, Oklahoma, the youngest child of George and Lucy (Hawkins) Coffee. She passed away in Tulsa on February 10, 2014.

Jessie attended school at Dwight Mission and graduated from Sallisaw High School on May 23, 1947. In 1951, she married Sam L. Still and from this union came two children, Susan and Sammy.
Jessie worked as a presser at what is now Modern Cleaners. She also enjoyed reading, arts and crafts, and going dancing at the Senior Citizens Center. Jessie was fluent in her first language, Cherokee. She encouraged others ( including this writer) to learn to speak ,read and write in the Cherokee language.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lucy Coffee; four brothers, Stute Coffee , J.B. Coffee , Alex Coffee, and Eli Coffee and her sister, Elizabeth Coffee Sullivan.
Jessie was a devoted friend and loved her family dearly. She would never miss an opportunity to boast on each one.
She is survived by: two children, daughter, Susan Houston and husband Daniel, and son, Sammy Lee Still and wife Dama, all of Tahlequah; grandchildren, Jessica Hays and husband Tommy, Lindsay McCarter, Tonya Russell and husband Timothy, Tiffany Jordan and husband Thomas, and Leah Houston; six great-grandchildren, Rachel and Elaine Hays, Samantha, Emily, Sarah and Andrea Russell; and cherished companion, Michael May.
