Mr. Joe Richard Cassity was born to Oscar Olar and Grace Virginia Sharp Cassity. He attended school in Henderson and Carthage, graduating from Carthage High School with the class of 1964. Joe married the love of his life, Judy Elizabeth Sledge, on July 1, 1966, after meeting her on a blind date and they celebrated over 47 years together.

He was a licensed journeyman plumber, and worked varying capacities for 47 years in the mechanical contracting business with Drew Woods, Inc. Pyramid Mechanical Services and H&J Mechanical. He finished his career with UT Health Center in Tyler in 2012. Joe and Judy raised two sons, Gary and Kyle. Joe loved assisting and supporting his sons with 4H livestock shows, football, track events and hunting. Joe loved his grandchildren and took pride in supporting them during their many activities and was known as their "Papa Joe". Mr. Cassity was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Carthage, enjoyed his early morning coffee with his friends, and enjoyed working and gardening. He took pride in helping the elderly at Briarcliff Nursing Home every Sunday morning for their breakfast and church service while his mother, Grace, was a resident.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kyle Cassity and daughter-in-law, Dawn Cassity.
