FAYE WRIGHT
4 May 1940 - 6 Feb 2014

KINGSPORT — Faye Wright went to her eternal home on Feb. 6, 2014 after a brief illness.

She was a Christian and a woman of strong faith who encouraged others in their faith. Faye grew up in Scott County, Va., graduated from Gate City High School and completed LPN training. She was a retired nurse, having spent her entire career at HVCH.

Faye was a unique and amazing lady who was beautiful inside and out. She had a sense of style and elegance, and taught her nieces and nephews the proper way to do many things. She was an unsurpassed cook, better than many chefs. She was especially known for her chicken and rice, homemade rolls, shrimp scampi, mudslide pie, and many other delectable dishes. Faye was the consummate hostess and loved having dinner parties. She loved decorating for Christmas and her home was always warm and inviting. Her holiday buffets were legendary.

She especially enjoyed vacation trips to the beach, spending time with friends and family and cooking for everyone. Faye also loved flower gardening and her yard was full of beautiful, fragrant flowers in the summertime. She had a special love for pets and adopted several strays and found homes for others. Faye was loving, generous, and supportive to all who knew her. She will be terribly missed by her family and friends. We will always love her.

Faye was preceded in death by parents, Clara and Worley Penley; brothers, Herschel Penley and Broadus Penley; and sisters, Mabel Penley and Margaret Dean.

She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 50 years, Harold Wright; sisters, Sue Dean, Nyla Blankenbecler, and Mary Penley; b r o t h e r, Robert Penley; and an extended family of loved ones. Her love for her husband and her family and friends never wavered. She had many beloved nieces, nephews, and family members and was especially close to Randall and Janette Dean, Serita Blankenbecler, Carol Blankenbecler, Ella Dean, Ivan Blankenbecler, Rick Penley, Terry Penley, Jeff Penley, Joseph Penley, Les and Kim Wright, Teri Wright, Preston Wright and special friends, Sonya Hartley and Sue Davidson.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Wellmont ICU floor for the excellent medical care provided to Faye.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Roy Fowler officiating.
