Martha Ann Braxton, 93, of Auburn, AL, passed from this life to her Heavenly home on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Bethany House Hospice of Auburn. Born Oct. 29, 1920, she spent most of her childhood at Georgiana, AL, where she graduated from high school in 1939. After attending business school in Montgomery she worked at the Farm Security's Montgomery office for seven years. In 1947 Martha moved to Springfield, MO, where she worked for the Assembly of God Gospel Publishing House. In 1960 she relocated to Arlington VA to work as an executive secretary at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. Upon her retirement she moved back to Montgomery. Enjoying church and community volunteer work, she stayed busy, but often enjoyed traveling with groups to domestic and foreign locations. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, John W. Braxton and Chlora Green Braxton. Also she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca Christo and Helen Braxton and brother John W. Braxton III. She is survived by one sister, Mary Ellen Buhls and two brothers, Charles Braxton (Norma Jean) of Camilla, GA and Joe Braxton (Tomilu) of Auburn, AL. Though never married, Martha cherished her family, many cousins, 10 nieces and nephews and their families. She had many friends in Montgomery and Auburn's retirement communities, Azalea Place and Magnolia Place. She has remained a member of Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church of Montgomery for 22 years.
