Voyne C. Applegate, age 75, of Springfield, MO, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 23, 1938, in Ongo, MO, to William and Rosa (Maggard) Applegate. He was a member of Solid Rock Church. Voyne worked many years with his brothers as a brick mason. He was united in marriage to Barbara Hall on June 25, 1965 in Springfield, Missouri. Voyne enjoyed playing his guitar, singing at church, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by parents, William A. "Bud" and Rosa Applegate; one son, Steven Applegate; one granddaughter Ashley Renee Applegate; seven brothers, Clinton Applegate, Cletis Applegate, Carl Applegate, Bill Applegate, Dutch Applegate, Elvin Applegate, and Jerry Applegate; two sisters, Verba Goodwin and Vada Applegate. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Applegate of the home; six sons, Rodney Applegate and wife Michelle of Halltown, Chuck Applegate and wife Dena of Springfield, Tracy Applegate and wife Carole of Springfield, Kevin Applegate of Springfield, Jason Applegate and wife Linda of Springfield, Shannon Applegate and wife Cheri of Springfield: three daughters, Darlene Applegate of the state of Oregon, Angie Applegate of Springfield, and Katrina Ryan and husband Victor of Strafford; twenty-five grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, February 10, 2014, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO.
