GARWOOD, Mary Irene age 93 of Xenia passed away Thursday June 26, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband Bevan E. Garwood Sr. in 1965; sister Beulah Bennet; brothers Dewey, Clarence, John, Lloyd, Roy, James, Albert and Luther Hamblin. She is survived by sons, Bevan Garwood Jr. and wife Connie of Beavercreek and Terry Garwood Sr. of Greenville; grandchildren, Terry Garwood Jr. of Fairbanks Alaska, Shelley Garwood Smith and husband Roger of Xenia and Scott Garwood of Dayton; great grandson, Jacob Smith; sisters, Alma Caldwell of Florida and Becky Jane Gibbs of Kentucky; special caregiver, Viola Keeton; friend, Bob Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Garwood was a graduate of Gatliff High School in Kentucky and received a Bachelor of Nursing degree from Knoxville General Hospital in Tennessee. She was the owner of North King Street Nursing Home in Xenia from 1961 until the tornado of 1974. She was a member of the Business Professional Women's Association and the Golden Age Senior Center in Xenia. Funeral services were at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday July 1, 2008 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road. with Pastor Wayne McLaughlin officiating. Interment followed in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Her family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
