This is recorded by "Digitalarkivet: Deaths in Kvinnherad 1835-1879". Anders wife, Kari, and three children were "crushed under a avalanche" on 22 January 1845. "De fra No 14 til 17 anførte Personer bleve knuste under et uventet Skredfald" - - Those from No 14 to 17 mentioned persons were crushed during an unexpected avalanche. Her death record says she was 12 when she was killed.
The Bygdebøk for Mel bruk describes what happened this way: "He lost the wife, Kari Hansdotter Kjerland, and three children when avalanche took his house 1845". The Bygdebøk for Nedre Fet bnr. 3 - page 766 says this "Anders, (1800 -), married the first time 1826 to Kari Hansdotter Kjerland, who disappeared when their place at Kjerland was taken by an avalanche."

"....Anders Andersson was a fisherman and tenant farmer (house but no land). When he came from the sea that 22. January 1845, he was met by a terrible sight on his home place. An avalanche had swept with it the house, and his wife and three children, Johanna, Anders and Else, perished in the landslide.
