Billy J. Tennyson, 80, of Columbia, MO, passed away February 5, 2014.

He was born May 10, 1933, in Boone County, MO to Abner and Mae (Nichols) Tennyson.

His father died when Billy was three years old. He was raised by his mother and Alvy Crane, his step-father.

Billy was a carpenter and celebrated 55 years in Carpenters' Local 1925. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a searchlight operator. Billy belonged to Twilight Lodge and Aleppo Grotto.

He married Kay Estes in 1956, and she survives.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children: Billy Tennyson and wife Jane, Tracy Simms and husband Larry, Dana Tennyson and husband Tom; grandchildren: Michelle Tennyson, Brandon Carter and wife Marly, Ashlee Carter and husband Dakota, Kayla Carter and husband Matt, Taylor Krohn; great-grandchildren: Brandon Carter, Leona Crites, Julian Garrett, Darius Wright, and one on the way; sisters: Sue Pruessner and Donna Hullett; and sisters-in-law, Marie Johnson, Sonnie Estes, and Eileen Tennyson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, grandparents, brother Harold, sister JoElla,

There will be a visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery immediately after the service.
