Jesse L. Fleming
Jesse L. Fleming died at 7:20 o'clock yesterday morning at the family residence on the Linnwood and Wildcat gravel road five miles northeast of the city. He suffered a stroke of paralysis six weeks ago and the third stroke came on last Friday. Mr. Fleming was born in this county on September 6, 1829, and was the oldest resident of the county at the time of his death. His entire life was spent on the farm and he was one of the best known citizens of Tippecanoe county. He served for a short time in the civil war as a member of Company C, 150th Indiana infantry. He is survived by the following children: Miss Olive Fleming, of Boston, Mass.; John Fleming, of Indianapolis; Jacob Fleming, of Mulberry and William R. Fleming, Miss Kate Fleming and Miss Etta Prough, of this county. Mr. Fleming was an industrious and honest man and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He had a gentle disposition and was an indulgent father. He was an excellent citizen and enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew him. The funeral will be conducted from the residence tomorrow morning at 10:30 o'clock. Rev. H. Ripley will officiate and the interment will be made in the Isley cemetery.
