Dorothy Englatine (Chaplin) Chaplin, 90, widow of Edward W. Chaplin of 102 Norwood Road passed away, Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in Avante at Waynesboro.
Mrs. Chaplin was born in Rockbridge County on June 4, 1920,
a daughter of the late Boyd Burnett and Myrtle Virginia (Berry) Chaplin.
Dorothy was a member of the Cherryvale United Methodist Church, she was a house wife, a wonderful mother and was previously employed by A.S.R.
In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Chaplin was preceded in death by a son, Boyd B. Painter, a granddaughter, Lisa Thomas and four brothers, Wallace, Harold, Ralph and Joe Chaplin.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Lee Painter and his wife Ann, Eugene Thomas Painter and his wife Linda and Loyd Berry Painter and his wife Patricia all of Staunton; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grand children; one great-great grandchild; three step-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service with family and friends will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the residence.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Southern Care Hospice, 2815 North Augusta Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
