Son of John Forest Davis 1862-1938 and Julia Ella Sumner 1864-1916. Husband of Lou Belle Thomas 1905-1972 - marriage was on 30 Dec 1922. They are the parents of three children, Ned Davis, Carey Thomas Davis 1923-1979 and Ruby Joyce Banister 1928-2014.

Kentucky New Era obit posted 10 Feb 1981 reads as follows:

A.L. "Bill" Davis, 81, Cadiz, died at 6:45am today at Pinecrest Nursing Home, Hopkinsville, after a short illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Goodwin Funeral Home.

A native of Trigg County, he was born Sept 1, 1899, the son of the late John Forrest and Julia Ella Sumner Davis. Mr. Davis was a retired farmer and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. His wife, Lou Belle Thomas Davis, died in 1972 and one son, Carey T. "Sonny" Davis, died in 1979.

Survivors include one son, Carl G. "Ned" Davis; one daughter, Mrs. John Joyce Banister; one sister, Myrt Bridges, all of Cadiz; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
