Otto Burmeister was born in Denmark, and married a New York girl, Viola Petersen.
In 1930, Otto was working as a stock clerk for a motor company. The couple had a son, Stanley, who was 1 year, 7 months old at the time of the US Census.
In 1934, another baby was due, but both Viola and the baby died in late December, and were buried in the same grave. In early January, 1935, Otto died, and was buried next to his wife and child.
Their son, Stanley, initially went to live in Council Bluffs, but by 1940 was living with his grandmother, Jensine Petersen, in Omaha.
