The sudden passing of Silas Jefferson Heacock in his 75th year on Tuesday, January 29th, 1957 was a great shock to this community. He was the beloved husband of Fanny Campbell and father of Margaret (Mrs. G. Cambourne) and Earl. Funeral service was held from Thompson Funeral Home, Aurora on Friday, February 1, with interment at Kettleby Cemetery. Mr. Heacock was a lifelong resident of Kettleby, the family homestead being the farm presently owned by C. Tilson. He was possibly best known as a retired thresher, having followed this occupation for over 30 years. At the time of his death, he had carpentry and fencing business in Kettleby. Mr. Heacock married Fanny Campbell in 1912 and they have lived in their present home for 45 years. Being a faithful member of Kettleby United Church, he held positions in the church as steward and elder and was a member of the choir for a number of years. Mr. Heacock had held office in Kettleby Cemetery Company since 1930.
