Amelia, daughter of Henry F. and Margaret Ahlborn, was born April 3, 1853, in Chambersburg, Ohio, and died November 13th in St. Joseph, Missouri. She came to Kansas with her parents in 1873. In those pioneer days she taught a term of school at Custer, and later she carried on the millinery business for a few years in Smith Centre. After that she followed her trade a tailored, working in Topeka, Kansas City and St. Joseph. She was efficient in her work, honest in all her dealings and devoted to her kindred and friends.
The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. R. H. MacCullough at the Custer church. The interment was in the family burial lot at Custer cemetery.
Of the immediate relatives there were present the brothers, Henry and Louis Ahlborn; the sisters, Miss Ada Ahlborn and Mrs. P. C. Weeks, both from Kansas City, and Mrs. L. T. Weeks from Winfield, Kansas.
