Albert J. Eberts, 88, of Hanover Township, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2010, in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Fritz) Eberts, to whom he was married for 39 years before her death in 1980. He was also the beloved companion of the late Marian Myers who died in January 2010. They were together for 29 years. Born in Mahoning Township, he was a son of the late Clayton R. and Minnie (Reichard) Eberts. Before his retirement in 1980, Albert was employed for 38 years as a foreman for the former H.S. Campbell Organization, which built the West Gate Mall. He loved working in his garden at home and enjoyed trips to the casinos, country music and attending various functions and events at the area volunteer fire companies. Albert along with his late wife Lillian were instrumental in helping to establish the integration of blind students into the public school system. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hecktown. Survivors: daughters, Elaine M. Mertz and her husband Edward of Nazareth, Mary J. Trexler-Walters and her husband Mark of Dallas, PA, Wanda M. Eberts of Bangor; son, Thomas J. Eberts and his wife Linda of Bethlehem; sisters, Helen Krock of Walnutport, Alberta Frey of Andres PA; brother, Kenneth Eberts of Bath; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Earl, Richard, and Willard Eberts and twin sister, Alice Hallman, sisters, Ruth Anthony, and Margaret Eberts. Services: Will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Hecktown.
