Norvelle Miranda Stutts Lloyd, 93, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, at Sardis Oaks Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel, by the Rev. Drs. Lee S. Dukes III and Duke Ison. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

Mrs. Lloyd was born Dec. 26, 1911, in Iredell County to William Kelly and Jessie Thompson Stutts. She was a homemaker and a food services employee of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and was retired from the textile industry in 1976. She was always a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. Loved and admired by everyone who knew her, she blessed us all with many precious memories to cherish. She was truly a person who had patience to care, smiles to share and love to spare. Mrs. Lloyd was preceded in death in 1989 by her husband of 45 years, Willie Erwin Lloyd, and by eight brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are her six children, Willie L. Merrell and husband, Benny, of Waxhaw, William E. Lloyd and wife, Carol, of Bedford, Texas, Minnie L. Dukes and husband, the Rev. Dr. Lee S. Dukes III of Lexington, Ruth L. Ward and her husband, Jim, of Lincolnton, Catherine L. Kulla and her husband, David, of Charlotte and John W. Lloyd of Charleston, S.C.; 11 grandchildren, Allyson L. Liska of Sugarland, Texas, Michelle M. Dunn of Raleigh, Michael Merrell of Sydney, Australia, Jeffrey Lloyd of Little Elm, Texas, Jimmie Ward of Vail, N.C., Kathryn D. Miller of Raleigh, Janette W. Black of Lincolnton, Alex Kulla and Ashley Kulla of Charlotte and Daniel Lloyd and Colleen Lloyd of Hof, Germany; nine great-grandchildren, Joseph and Elizabeth Liska, Jack and Connor Dunn, Josie and Jeb Black, Carmen Ward, Chase Merrell and Kennedi Lloyd; and a beloved brother, Jesse B. Stutts and wife, Ruth, of Goodyear, Ariz.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to express our love and appreciation to the dedicated staff of Sardis Oaks Nursing Home, where our mother resided the final seven years of her life. You kept her active, comfortable and happy with your tender loving care and we are forever grateful to you.
