ONALASKA After a year- long battle with cancer, Dennis Duane Ender, 67, of Onalaska, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, in his home, surrounded by his family.
Dennis was born on Dec. 28, 1945, in La Crosse to Albert and Janice (Keller) Ender. He attended Logan High School graduating in 1964. He joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served from 1964 to 1969. On Aug. 9, 1969, he married Diane Jurjens. She preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 1986.
Dennis was employed by Burlington-Northern Railroad where he worked as a switchman/brakeman. He later worked at Chart Industries in La Crosse, before retiring in 2010. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren were the light of his life.
He is survived by his mother, Janice Tiffany; sons, Brian (Melissa) Ender and Brent (Tamara Zoerb) Ender; granddaughters Halle, Zoe and Laken Ender; step-granddaughters, Emma, Anna and Sophia Goyette; brothers Gary (Sue) Ender and David Ender; sisters, Karen (Doug) Miller, Susan Lamb and Carol (Ron) Price; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Diane, he was preceded in death by his father Albert Ender; and step-father Bill Tiffany.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, at Holmen Lutheran Church, with a luncheon to follow. The Rev. Dan Henderson will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be 1:30 p.m. in the French Island Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services (La Crosse Chapel), 200 West Ave. S., and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday.
