After serving as a radio operator/gunner, flying combat missions over Germany during World War II, Lonnie returned to his wife in Paris, Texas. Upon completing horology school, they and their young son, moved to the Killeen, Texas area and operated a successful watch repair shop at Fort Hood, Texas for 40-years. He was considered, by his many friends and family members, to be a true gentleman.

Lonnie was predeceased by his parents and wife. He is survived by his son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
