(2) Fritz Garland Lanham, November 17, 1931 in Fort Worth

From the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Sunday, December 5, 1909, Sec. 3, p. 1:

A beautiful home wedding, which created much interest in society circles was that of Mr. Charles W. Head and Miss Hazel Walker, which was celebrated Wednesday evening at the home of the bride's parents.

The ceremony was performed by Rev. Dr. Wm. Caldwell in the reception room, the spacious bay window and mantel of this apartment having been exquisitely decorated. The mantel was banked with ferns and vines and in the center was a vase of golden chrysanthemums. Ferns, palms and rubber plants converted the bay window into a bower of tropical beauty, the entire space being covered with plants.

The ribbon bearers, wearing white frocks, were little Misses Marie Hefley and Lenore Long, who formed an aisle from the staircase to the bay window, where stood the wedding party.

Mrs. James D. Davis, sister of the bride, attired in a handsome white duchess lace robe over pink satin, hair ornament a silver band, entered first, and was followed by Miss Marguerite Walker, the maid of honor, who wore a charming dress of pink embroidered mesaline, decolete, with garniture of pink roses.

The bride, who is one of Fort Worth's handsome young women, attired in a wedding gown of white satin, with pearl trimmings and princess lace, made princess, en train, entered upon the arm of her father. A diamond crescent pin was the beautiful ornament worn, and was the bridegroom's gift.

The bride carried a shower bouquet of bride's roses and arm bouquets of white chrysanthemums tied with tulle were carried by the matron and maid. The bridegroom on the arm of his brother, Mr. J. E. Head, came in from a side entrance. Mendelssohn's wedding march was rendered by Miss Edna Lewis.

After the ceremony a reception was held.

Misses Ethel Evans, Jeanne, Marie and Adelaide Roe, Elsie Lofton, Marguerite Cantey, Mabel Long, Edna and Roberta Maddox, Maud Guthrie, Mary Montague and Mary Montgomery received in the dining room.

Others was assisted Mrs. Walker in receiving were Mmes. E. H. Carter, W. B. Harrison, W. B. Paddock, James Offatt, W. J. Hefley, Arnold of Galveston, Misses Margaret McLean and Vida Wright.

Mrs. A. C. Walker wore a dress of blue silk voile, with pearl trimmings. Her ornaments were diamonds. Mrs. Arnold was gowned in her wedding dress of white satin, with duchess lace trimmings.

Mr. and Mrs. Head went to New Orleans on a wedding journey and will reside in their new home on Eighth avenue upon their return.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. A. C. Walker and has been a social favorite since her return from school at Hollin's institute, Virginia.

Mr. Head is a member of the Head-Gartner Insurance Company and a rising young business man. Both bride and bridegroom were the recipients of numerous prenuptial functions.

From the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Wednesday, November 18, 1931, Sec. 2, p. 1:

The marriage of Mrs. Charles W. Head, the former Miss Hazel Walker, and Congressman Fritz G. Lanham of the Twelfth District took place yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. J. D. Davis, 2416 Ryan Place Drive.

Congressman Lanham has been prominent in political and social circles here for many years and Mrs. Lanham has been a resident of Fort Worth all her life. She formerly was a member of The Assembly.

Mrs. Lanham is the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. A. C. Walker, 319 South Adams Street, where she lived until recently, when she moved to 100 Penn Street. She wore a Hattie Carnegie traveling suit with chic hat and other accessories to match. She carried no flowers, nor was there any music. The simple ceremony was read by Dr. D. F. McConnell of the Broadway Presbyterian Church. Only members of the immediate family were present.

Mr. Lanham recently returned from an European tour on which he went as a member from Congress to a world economic meeting in Bucharest, Bulgaria. Afterward he toured Europe. He has been mentioned as the future chairman of the banking committee should the Democrats succeed in organizing the House.

Mr. Lanham is a Mason and a Shriner. He also was the father of the movement to develop helium as a commodity by the Navy Department.

Mr. and Mrs. Lanham left immediately after the wedding for New York and other cities of the Northeast, where they will travel and visit friends until Dec. 1, when they will go to Washington, D.C., to live at The Washington Hotel. They will arrive in the capital city several days before the opening of Congress, Dec. 7.

Both Mrs. Lanham and her husband plan to return to Fort Worth at frequent intervals as both call this "home".
