TERRETON - Vernon Edward Skidmore, 73, of Terreton, died July 30, 1993, in a one-vehicle accident at Helena, Mont.

He was born Feb. 4, 1920, at Rexburg, to Jennings Frank and Nora Large Skidmore. He attended Cedar Point Elementary School. He served in the armed forces during World War II.

On Feb. 6, 1947, he married Beth Schwendiman at Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was employed by Seba Feed in Terreton for many years.

He was a member of the LDS Church. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife of Terreton; children, Mrs. Dale (Deena) Larson, Mrs. Rick (Ami) Walker, Mrs. Dean (Janet) Umphrey, and Todd Skidmore, all of Rexburg, Mrs. Rick (Beth) Haws of Burton, Ed Skidmore and Chris Skidmore, both of Terreton, and Jennings Skidmore of Sugar City; sisters, Mildred "Micky" Bonar and Mabel "Mae" Bonar, both of Moses Lake, Wash., Irma Hathaway of Boise and Ruby Nielson of Las Vegas; 35 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 am at the Terreton LDS Church with Bishop Lynn Burtenshaw officiating. The family will meet with friends at the church Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm and Thursday from 10 to 10:45 am. Burial will be in the West Jefferson Memorial Cemetery with services by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Verl Skidmore, Post. Arrangements are under the direction of Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg.
