Mrs. Helen Sorrels Morris, age 90, of Marion, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at her residence. Her passing was peaceful and she is now with her Lord and Savior in Heaven. Helen was born in the High Shoal community of Rutherford County on April 18, 1923 to the late Frank and Reba Ingle Sorrels. A lifelong member of Cross United Methodist Church, she served in many capacities there but especially in programs for the children of the church who she dearly loved. Not having children of her own, she claimed all the little children of the church as hers and taught them to love the Lord. Always ready with a smile, she never let adversities get her down. A thoughtful, loving and caring person, all who knew her were blessed by her friendship. She was always ready to come to the aid of people who couldn't do for themselves and without concern for herself, shared the blessings of her life with those she loved. To know her was to love her and those who loved her will miss her dearly. Her husband, W. F. Morris, preceded her in death. She leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and many dear friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Rev. David McHale and Rev. Charles Dicks officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in McDowell Memorial Park.
