"Reid R. Bowman, son of Mr. and Mrs. George F. Bowman of Savannah, was killed almost instantly December 24, when the roof of a building collapsed on him. The report said Bowman was assisting in tearing down an old laundry building when the accident occurred.

The following is the meagerly stated short history of the beloved son who has given his life for his country: Private Bowman was born Sept. 20, 1927, and was confirmed and united with the Reformed and Evangelical church at Amazonia, May 28, 1944, Rev. George Ulrich, pastor. He graduated from Savannah high school with the class of 1945. He left Savannah and was inducted into military service Jan. 8, 1946." Savannah Reporter and Andrew County Democrat (Savannah, Missouri), January 3, 1947
