Mr. Henry Deardorff, one of Quincy township's most highly esteemed citizens, died at his home near the Nunnery, on Sunday morning, at three o'clock, after an illness of but two weeks. Up until the time he was stricken with the malady which caused his death he was in his usual health, and had been in Waynesboro only a few days previous to his illness. Deceased was in the 69th year of his age. He was born in Quincy township and resided at the place of his death for thirty-six years, where he was engaged in agricultural pursuits. He was a member of the German Baptist Brethren church, and of him it may be truly said that he was a good man. He was a friend to everybody.

He was highly esteeemed by all who knew him and many of his friends and neighbors went to him for counsel and advice in business affairs, which was always cheerfully given. Besides the aged widow, who has also been critically ill, two children, one son, Aaron H., this place, in charge of the collecting department of the Geiser Manufacturing Co., and Mrs. J. N. Friedly, living on the home farm, survive. He was an uncle to Mr. J. H. Deardorff, Assistant Secretary of Frick Co. Funeral took place yesterday (Wednesday) morning, with brief services at the home on account of the illness of Mrs. Deardorff, and were concluded at Price's church, with interment in the adjoining graveyard.
