The Brown County World. Friday, 6 December 1901. p.9.

    W. R. Bartley, Sr. left for Canon City, Colorado Thursday* in response to a telegram informing him that his daughter, Mrs. J. P. Farmer, was much worse. She died Friday** morning. Her remains, accompanied by her father and husband, reached Powhattan Monday afternoon in accordance with her last wishes. The funeral took place at her old home Tuesday*** afternoon and her body was laid to rest by the side of her mother in Grand Prairie cemetery. Sorrow is universal where Mrs. Farmer grew to womanhood and married. And where "none knew her but to love her," or named her but to praise. A father, husband, four children, three sisters and two brothers survive her.
