He was born to the parentage of Mose and Hettie Grant Appling. Oliver grew up and attended the public schools in Crawford County, GA. At an early age he confessed Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Roberta, GA. After moving to Fort Valley, GA he later joined Trinity Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as an usher and participated in various church activities until his death. For several years he worked at Blue Bird Body Company in Fort Valley in the windows department. Later he became employed as a truck driver at Warner Robins Building Supply, where he retired after years of service. Upon retirement he developed an interest in farming and his hobbies included fishing and gardening. He later became a fulltime farmer raising cattle and producing home grown vegetables. Survivors: one daughter; three grandsons; 3 brothers, 4 sisters, other relatives, and friends.
