Mabel was the daughter of Claude B & Lillian Chisholm of New Brunswick Canada. She became a registered nurse and came to the USA in 1938. In 1940 she was at the Brooklyn Hospital, NY as a trained nurse.

She married Jack Kendrick in 1942 and they had 4 children.
