Charles H. Seatle was born Dec 1842, Newport, RI, the son of Benjamin Spooner & Elizabeth Ward (Burdick) Seatle. His mother died when he was 4 years old after which his father married 2nd Martha F. Giles on August 2, 1949 in Bristol County, RI by Rev. Richard Livesey.

In 1863, age the age of 20, Charles is found living in Middletown and his occupation is that of farmer. June 1863 he is in the U.S. Civil War Draft Registration Records for Middletown. In August 1863 his father Benjamin died and Charles is named in the will which was dated Aug 1863 and probated September 21, 1863. In October 1863 he married Clara S. Barker.

By 1880 Charles, his wife and two children are residing in Newport. He was a Carriage Manufacturer, making new and repairing and selling used carriages. There are numerous ads throughout the local newspaper and telephone directory advertising his business.

From 1900 till his death in 1925 he resided at 17 Cranston Avenue.
